...and this is where I got the title form - second girl from the right!
Disco, as all other nasty diseases, spread all over the world, former Yugoslavia included. Here is just a sample of many disco releases from over there - these ones all from my vinyl collection. Every man, woman and their dog flirted with disco back in the day and there is a lot of better stuff out there, but this time I only wanted to use what I have.
In any case, this is an interesting ride through late 70s Yugo music. Some of the artists made it, some fell into total obscurity. My favourite of all are the songs that Zoran Simjanovic (one of the most prolific Serbian film music composer)did for an amazing, amazing film titled "Nacionalna Klasa" about a loser nicknamed Floyd.
Well, I hope you enjoy all this effort. If I get a chance I will do punk, power pop and post punk volumes and give it a break for a while...
Lokice - by far the most popular dance group ever. Unfortunately, they tried singing as well...
Floyd, stick in mud, but still having the power of positive thinking
Meda and his 150 kilos made it on the record!
Dusan Prelevic-Prele, young and with awesome fashion sense
Sladjana Milosevic, before she launched in her disco career, that turned into new wave, pop, crappy pop, rock, middle of the road rock and just plain shit. She went to the States to try her luck there. Of course she failed. I met a Yank who went out with her, no joke.
